When bollywood thought of setting the stage in Jharkhand

The state’s very own film policy was formulated in December of 2015. This incentive brought many filmmakers to Jharkhand, for the shooting of their films. Films like Udaan and MS Dhoni’s biopic, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story were shot in Jharkhand, completely. Bollywood’s big names have praised the film policy of 2015 and the beauty of Jharkhand. The people of Jharkhand are being praised for the welcoming attitude, towards the film industry.
Landlocked, yet photogenic, Jharkhand and its hills and beautiful waterfalls, has already been captured by the iconic, Satyajit Ray, when it was a part of Bihar. The film policy of 2015 and Ranchi’s very own Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s biopic has opened doors for Bollywood big names, to shoot in Jharkhand. Anupam Kher, who played Paan Singh Dhoni, MSD’s father, in the cricketer’s biopic, has already worked here on two other projects, Kaanu and Gunday aur Gudiya.
Arjun Rampal, a model cum actor, was recently seen in Daltonganj, shooting for his upcoming film, Nastik. A recently released film Ranchi Diaries, starring Himansh Kohli, Anupam Kher, and many others, was also shot in Ranchi. The previous name for this film was Gunday aur Gudiya. Another released film of 2016, A Death in the Ganj, Late Vinod Khanna, and Suniel Shetty starrer Koylanchal, were all shot in Jharkhand.
The film policy of the state gives grants, tax concessions, and subsidies to films shot here. The film policy is generating business and employment in the state. The film policy is “a bold step”, in words of Mahesh Bhatt. It was the Naxalite violence, because of which, the government could not attract Bollywood, towards the beauty of Jharkhand. Now, with the coming of the film policy, and a mouthful of praises from big filmmakers, have attracted Bollywood to the beautiful land of Jharkhand.
